More tragedy struck Johns Hopkins campus this weekend when two pedestrians were struck by a driver early Saturday morning. The Johns Hopkins community recently endured a similar situation in February when a student was struck by a driver while riding his bike. That student is seriously injured, suffering catastrophic brain injuries, and is not expected to make any type of meaningful recovery. His family has filed a $10 million dollar lawsuit. I have blogged about this incident and its ramifications recently in the Maryland Car Accident Blog.
This incident, while serious, will probably not lead to injuries as significant as those suffered by the bicyclist in February. One student who was struck on Saturday suffered a head injury and was in critical condition. Both students who were involved did not lose consciousness at the accident scene and are expected to survive.
The driver of the vehicle may have been intoxicated. Police are currently discussing possible charges with the state's attorney's office. With two incidents involving drivers injuring pedestrians and a bicyclist, the Johns Hopkins community, as well as the Baltimore City Police, are on high alert. If you or someone you know has been injured in a pedestrian accident or a bicycle accident contact our Maryland personal injury lawyers for a free consultation.
