The county seat, and home of the Circuit Court for Baltimore County is located at 401 Bosley Avenue in Towson, Maryland. Baltimore County is now also known as home to Olympic Gold Medalist, Michael Phelps, who set five world records by the time he graduated from Towson High School at the age of 17. Prior to Phelps bringing fame to Baltimore County there was also Babe Ruth and Johnny Unitas, who were both legends in their time. Towson is just one of the several towns that make up Baltimore County. Baltimore County consists of Arbutus, Baldwin, Butler, Catonsville, Cockeysville, Dundalk, Edgemere, Essex, Hunt Valley, Hydes, Kingsville, Long Green, Lutherville, Middle River, Monkton, Owings Mills, Parkton, Parkville, Phoenix, Perry Hall, Randallstown, Reisterstown, Rosedale, Sparks, Timonium, Towson, White Marsh and Woodstock. In addition to the Circuit Court for Baltimore County located in Towson, there are three District Courts, which are located in Catonsville, Essex and Towson.
Baltimore County is one of the largest jurisdictions in a metropolitan area with a population of over 2.6 million, giving it also the unfortunate distinction as the 2nd Maryland County next to Prince George’s County to log the most car accidents resulting in death. Baltimore County also ranked second with the highest percentage of pedestrian accidents resulting in a fatality. Of recent, Towson has recorded the most pedestrian and bicyclist accidents being the 29th most dangerous metropolitan area for both pedestrians and bikers. The County is aware of these issues, and has therefore committed 113 million over the next five years to improve the safety for pedestrians and bicyclists.
As Baltimore County continues to grow with more and more commuters traveling its roadways this brings about changes and expansions with the traffic p
atterns. One of which is the I-95 Express Toll Lane Project that has been going on since 2008. This project was designed to increase safety and ease congestion along the I-95 corridor. However, as a result of the construction phase in Rosedale/White Marsh many car accidents, motorcycle accidents and truck accidents have occurred. The construction will continue to create havoc for many motorists traveling I-95 during the construction phase which is not scheduled to be completed until the summer of 2011.
Most motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists are unaware of their rights when involved in car accidents, motorcycle accidents, truck accidents, bus accidents or pedestrian accidents. While Baltimore County is considered to have a conservative jury pool, the District Court judges are fair and normally award a verdict in line with the injuries sustained. It is important when involved in car accidents or any type of accident to get the opinion of a Baltimore accident attorney that is familiar with the surroundings, courts and judges in the area. Our Baltimore accident lawyers have over twenty years of experience representing victims of car accidents, motorcycle accidents, truck accidents, pedestrian accidents, bicycle accidents and various other accidents in and around the Baltimore County area. Further, many employees of Portner and Shure, P.A. currently reside in Baltimore County and are therefore familiar with most of the areas where accidents take place. Familiarity with an accident scene can aid in getting liability accepted. Since both Mr. Portner and Mr. Shure grew up in the Baltimore County, and went to high school there (St. Pauls and Calvert Hall graduates), they too can quickly aid in determining why an accident may have occurred at a particular location. Further, both Mr. Portner and Mr. Shure currently travel throughout Baltimore County while picking up their children at the Garrison Forrest School and McDonogh.
In addition to handling personal injury claims, our Baltimore County lawyers are also experienced in criminal matters, DUI/DWI's, traffic matters and immigration in and around Baltimore County.
